Rematch of speed vs. stalker

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Grayross Gal could have a slight edge in a competitive field of nine fillies and mares running for a top claiming price of $15,000 in the seventh race at Hastings Sunday. You’rejustlikeme, Badgetts Star, Include the Grand, and Kokeeno also appear to be razor sharp coming into the 6 1/2-furlong sprint, which will serve as the feature race.

With Chad Hoverson aboard, Grayross Gal got up just in time to nip You’rejustlikeme in a similar race June 8. Trained by Craig MacPherson, Grayross Gal is capable of stringing good races together, as evidenced by her back-to-back wins for $8,000 in her last two starts at Hastings in 2007.

Grayross Gal has tactical speed and there is a very good chance a speed duel will develop which will certainly include You’rejustlikeme. Hoverson retains the mount.

You’rejustlikeme, trained by Terry Jordan, set an honest pace against Grayross Gal June 8, and figures to be on the lead Sunday.

Badgetts Star also has excellent speed, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see apprentice jockey Jason Pang try and ease her off of You’rejustlikeme during the early stages of the race. Badgetts Star beat Grayross Gal in a $15,000 claiming race May 11. After finishing fourth for the same price May 25, Badgetts Star came from just off of the pace to win an $8,000 claiming sprint June 14.

Include the Grand should appreciate the move back to a sprint following a good effort going 1 1/16 miles in a $20,000 claiming race June 21.
