ETOBICOKE, Ontario - New York invader Remarkable News ($3.50) came out on top in a four-horse win photo in an exiting renewal of the Grade 3 at Woodbine Sunday.

With Javier Castellano aboard, Remarkable News went right to the front in the mile and a sixteenth turf event, and was pressed along the inside by Le Cinquieme Essai. They dueled around the far turn after tepid early fractions, and then quickened through the stretch.

Jambalaya and Sky Conqueror both surged in deep stretch, but Remarkable News held on to prevail by a nose over Le Cinquieme Essai. Sky Conqueror made up the most ground, closing from fifth to finish another head back in third, a head in front of Jambalaya.

The final time of 1:39.67 seconds wasn't far off the course record of 1:39.20.

"He handled the track very good," said Castellano. "It's a long stretch, and he wasn't used to it, but he never gave up, and fought all the way to the end."

In winning his third consecutive start and first stakes, Remarkable News earned $90,000 of the $150,800 purse. Angel Penna Jr. trains him for owner Holly Rincon.
