LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Barretts winter mixed sale got under way with a quick six-figure price Monday in Pomona, Calif.

Hip No. 3, The Thoroughbred Corp.'s Grade 3-placed stakes winner Regiment, brought a $100,000 final bid. California-based bloodstock agent Bruno de Berdt signed the ticket for the 4-year-old colt, who was the opening session's early leader as of 5 p.m. Eastern time.

Agent Kristin Mulhall, daughter of The Thoroughbred Corp.'s longtime racing manager Dick Mulhall, consigned the colt. Regiment is a son of Outflanker and the Full Out mare Forever Full. He is a half-brother to winners Saints Cup and Eternal Cup.

Trained by Bob Baffert for the late Prince Ahmed bin Salman's Thoroughbred Corp., Regiment won the Diamond A U.S.A. Stakes and finished second in the Cinema Breeders' Cup Handicap and the La Jolla Handicap, both Grade 3 races. To date, he has earned more than $288,000.

The Barretts two-day winter mixed auction at the company's Fairplex pavilion was to continue through Tuesday.
