Red's Honor risks stakes streak

ANDERSON, Ind. - Red's Honor guns for his fourth straight stakes win of the Hoosier Park meet Sunday in the $40,000-added To Much Coffee Stakes for 3-year-olds and up going 1 1/16 miles.

The To Much Coffee is the fourth on an 11-race program. The third race is the $40,000 Frances Slocum Stakes for fillies and mares going 1 1/16 miles.

Trained by Dale Romans for the McKee Stables, Red's Honor romped by 8 3/4 lengths in the Benjamin Harrison Stakes at 1 1/16 miles Oct. 27. He also won the Fort Wayne and Brickyard stakes, both at six furlongs for statebreds.

Red's Honor will have Justin Vitek in the irons.

Marciann returns to defend her crown in the Frances Slocum Stakes. She faces a stiff test from the Stanley Roberts-trained entry of Heresyour Chickey and Friendly Spirit.

Trained by Shane Spiess, Marciann has been idle since a 5 3/4-length win in the six-furlong Merrillville Stakes here Oct. 13. She has been lightly raced this year and the Slocum will be her first route of the year. Terry Thompson will ride from post 6.

Friendly Spirit, a 3-year-old daughter of Friendly Lover, has won four consecutive races. She won a nonwinners-of-two allowance sprint by 10 lengths Sept. 29, captured the six-furlong Vincennes Stakes by a head, and then won the 1 1/16-mile Evansville Stakes by five lengths Oct. 26. She prepped for this race with a six-length win in a one-mile open allowance Nov. 5. Regular rider Jamie Theriot will be aboard Friendly Spirit on Sunday.

Heresyour Chickey won the restricted Richmond Stakes at this distance by 8 3/4 lengths. The front-running Heresyour Chickey answered any questions about her ability to get the distance that day, but will find a clear lead hard to obtain in this field. Bobby Walker Jr. has the ride.
