Redoute's Choice to shuttle from Australia to France

Redoute’s Choice, one of Australia’s leading sires, will shuttle to the Aga Khan’s Haras de Bonneval in France for the 2013 Northern Hemisphere season, the French stud has announced.

The 16-year-old Danehill horse just completed the Southern Hemisphere season at Australia’s Arrowfield Stud, where he has stood since he retired from the racetrack in 2000. He was Australia’s top sire in 2006 and 2010.

Redoute’s Choice will stand at Haras de Bonneval for 70,000 euros, or about $86,100.

“We are very excited to have Redoute’s Choice on our stallion roster for 2013, and we will be sending at least 15 of our own mares to him” the Aga Khan’s French studs manager Georges Rimaud said in making the announcement. “In recent years, Royal Ascot has proven that the Australian sprinting Thoroughbred is comparable with the best in the world. Redoute’s Choice is the dominant stallion in Australia, and he has already, from limited exposure, sired major winners from mares by European stallions such as Kingmambo, Caerleon, Last Tycoon, Rainbow Quest, and Nureyev.”

Arrowfield owner John Messara said the shuttle venture “will give Redoute’s Choice the opportunity to create a truly global legacy.”
