Redneck Humor set a track record Sunday, when he led throughout for a 4 1/2-length win in the $75,000 Budweiser Handicap at Sunland Park. He covered six furlongs in 1:07.42, lowering the standard of 1:07.50 that was set by rival Surf N Ski on Jan. 14. The Budweiser was one of two stakes on the card. African Rose captured the $75,000 El Diario. Miguel Perez rode both horses, giving him a sweep of the richest races on the program Sunday. Redneck Humor ($8.40) seized the lead at the start and set fractions of 21.43 seconds for the opening quarter-mile and 43.28 for the half-mile. Justin Evans trains the horse, who topped an exacta with stablemate Toews On Ice. Sharp. African Rose ($6.20) tracked the pace in the El Diario and went on to cover 6 1/2 furlongs for fillies and mares in 1:14.99. She won by 1 1/2 lengths over K P Wildcat.
