Red Mile: Thursday 9/27 Analysis

Email

Best Bet: To Dream On (9th)     Spot: Power Pack Hanover (8th)

Race 1

(7) MY SWEET MANDY scored in her one start with Jamieson in the bike and was a willing second last time. With only three starts under her belt, there is room for improvement. (5) SOMEWHEREINHEAVEN looks like the one to beat but is far from a killer. (1) BENEARTHEBEACH has raced well in limited starts. (2) DILIGENT PROSPECT is a must use, at least underneath.

Race 2

(10) SHEENAS SHADOW faces a field without a standout and has a bit of early speed in her bag of tricks. I can see her surprising these despite the bad draw. (4) WINKYS TRUFFLE reunites with Lachance and should be forwardly placed. (1) OMNIPOTENT has been okay versus tougher company.

Race 3

(5) FRAU BLUCHER is a standout favorite in this spot and looks best. (1) ROYAL ASSETS has some talent; maybe. (3) COFFEECAKE HANOVER is certainly an exotics player and could get more with the right trip.

Race 4

(1) UPFRONTLUCKYCAROL & (5) ASPIDISTRA HANOVER are the clear one-two fillies in this Bluegrass division. I’ll give the edge to the former because of a possible slightly better price. (2) MORNINGSTAR gets Pierce back in the sulky.

Race 5

(4) ALPHADOODLE might scare some people away after stopping badly last week, but coming home in :34 1/5 one time can usually be a quick fix issue or an anomaly. Filly has talent and drops right back in the box. (2) VINTAGE OAKS looks good if you ignore the break. (1) SHARED PAST is probably the one to beat but certainly no lock. (7) ANTSY DANCEY is a must in the exotics. (5) TIME TO KILL is another contender.

Race 6

(3) MAKE SOME MEMORIES is one of two McIntosh trainees in this split. This gal appears to have some versatility, but it is worth noting that Campbell chose the other entrant. (10) BAEZ switches to Gingras and has early speed for a top trainer. (1) IDEAL POTRAIT & (2) HOBE SOUND both look fast enough on paper. (8) THINK PINK can’t be tossed in a tough race to figure.

Race 7

(4) THISTLE DHU seems to be on the right path with hobbles added. Gingras could be the piece that pushes her over the top. (5) WINDSUN MOHAVI qualified well enough and could easily compete with these. (1) LADY LIKES MUSCLES gets a switch to Pierce. (3) SPEED DIAL also gets a new driver; not impossible.

Race 8

(1) POWER PACK HANOVER qualified well while chasing a nice 2yo in Johny Rock. This $120k yearling purchase is a half-sister to some good earners and could be ready at first asking. (8) AUNT CAROLINE adds Tetrick this week and could show more. (9) O NARUTAC ROCKETTE has shown some good things in her brief career.

Race 9

(7) TO DREAM ON remains the best 2yo trotting filly in the country and is hard to go against. Note that we get a new driver because Miller has ownership interests in #1. (2) FASHION ATHENA has gone some nice miles; big test. (1) MISTERY WOMAN is undefeated. (5) HANDOVER BELLE has been keeping good company.

Race 10

(9) WITH SUGAR went a flat mile with hobbles added. That could be all she needed to right the ship. (5) MY AMERICA BI got over the top last time and looks like a fit with this group. (2) HERCULOTTE HANOVER shows some nice lines. Andover Hall-sired filly resides in a good barn.
