Idyllic Beach went over the $1 million mark in career earnings with her victory

Idyllic Beach rallied gamely from off-the-pace to overtake dueling pace-setters and capture Sunday’s $234,000 Glen Garnsey Memorial at The Red Mile. The 10-1 shot, driven masterfully by Yannick Gingras, rolled up without cover and then gamely overtook Caviart Ally in the late stages for the 1:52 2/5 score over a rain-soaked surface.

The action was intense early as Caviart Ally eventually wrestled the front after the 28 1/5 opening quarter. Tequila Monday with David Miller made a bold move on the backstretch to get control through the 55 1/5 half mile, and Miller continued to keep the pace hot, hitting three-quarters in 1:22 3/5 with pressure starting to mount.

In the homestretch Caviart Ally came out of the pocket to attack Tequila Monday as Idlyllic Beach, a daughter of Somebeachsomewhere, drifted wider but had momentum and went on to win.  Caviart Ally, driven by Tim Tetrick, finished second, with Jayes A Lady third along the inside. Blazin Britches made a break in the early stages but miraculously finished fourth.

Trained by Jimmy Takter, Idyllic Beach scored for the fourth time this season for owners Christina Takter, John Fielding, Brixton Medical and Marvin Katz, and the victory pushed her career bank account above $1 million.
