Ready's Gal extends Pletcher's hot streak

Todd Pletcher appears more than ready to make a run at another Saratoga record.

Two years ago, Pletcher won a record 35 races at the Spa and equaled that mark last summer. After winning with five consecutive starters over the last two days, Pletcher has six winners at the meet, two more than he had after three days last year.

After going 3 for 3 on Thursday, Pletcher won with his first two starters Friday, including Ready's Gal, who slid through an opening along the hedge under John Velazquez and got up to win the Grade 3, $100,000 by 1 3/4 lengths. Dream Lady got up for second by a neck over Who's Cozy.

Pletcher's streak ended when Spin Factor finished third in the nightcap.

Ready's Gal settled in third behind a speed duel, stayed on the hedge throughout, and got through in midstretch to get the win. Ready's Gal ($7.20) covered the 1 1/16 miles in 1:41.90.

Pletcher is now 6 for 11 at the meet.
