Read the Footnotes to Fla. Farm

Two-time Grade 2 winner Read the Footnotes, retired last week due to knee problems, will enter stud in Florida at the new Sequel Stallions facility, operated by Becky Thomas. He will stand in 2005 for $8,500 as the property of Thomas, Lewis Lakin, and Dennis Narlinger.

Read the Footnotes will be the first stallion to stand in Florida under the Sequel banner. He will be joined by Bwana Charlie upon that colt's retirement from racing.

Sequel Stallions is located near Ocala at the former Silverleaf Farms.

Read the Footnotes, a 3-year-old Smoke Glacken colt, won the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth in 2004 and the Grade 2 Remsen and Grade 3 Nashua as a 2-year-old. Trained by Richard Violette for Klaravich Stables, Read the Footnotes won 5 of 8 starts and $450,660.

Mares bred to Read the Footnotes in Florida will ship to New York to foal, Thomas said, making their foals eligible for both the Florida Stallion Stakes series and the lucrative New York-bred program.
