Reach One More now 9 for 11

LINCOLN, Neb. - Reach One More scored his eighth career stakes victory and provided his rider with a birthday present in the $16,350 President's Cup Stakes at Lincoln Race Course on Friday night.

Reach One More and First Class Brass hooked up for lead in the opening yards of the six-furlong race and went head and head through strong fractions. Reach One More, ridden by Jordan Olesiak, managed to get a length clear nearing the stretch, then was roused once left handed to hold the margin under a confident ride to score by 1 1/4 lengths. First Class Brass, under Armando Martinez, held second, and Skwhirl rallied strongly late to pick up third, another 1 3/4 lengths back.

Olesiak, celebrating his 27th birthday on Friday, had three winners on the card to take a 25-24 edge over younger brother Jake Olesiak in the rider standings.

Reach One More, the overwhelming favorite at 2-5 in a field reduced to five runners, returned $2.80 to win and combined with First Class Brass for a 7-4 exacta worth $4.60. Trained by Chuck Turco, the win gave Reach One More his second stakes win this year while moving his career mark to 9-1-0 from 11 starts. He covered the distance in a meet best 1:11.40, a full two seconds faster than any other race on the card Friday.
