'Ramblin Girl' returns at Remington

Dash for Cash Derby winner Ima Ramblin Girl makes her seasonal debut in the $35,000 Garrett's Miss Pawhuska Stakes for fillies and mares over 350 yards at Remington Park on Saturday.

The 4-year-old Ima Ramblin Girl returns from a four-month rest after winning the Grade 1, $193,000 Dash for Cash Derby and finishing a very close second in the $25,000 Sooner Trailer Stakes as the even-money choice in her final two 2006 starts. In the 440-yard Dash for Cash Derby, she prevailed in the final 100 yards to win by a half-length as the 3-1 choice.

Going to the Hague is another 4-year-old returning from a winter freshening. She won last year's Lazy E Derby, was second in the Altoona Derby at Prairie Meadows, and third in the Grade 1 Heritage Place Derby.

Chiselled in Glory shortens up

Chiselled in Glory, winner of the 550-yard Del Mar Handicap on March 4, faces similar company at a shorter distance when he tries 400 yards in the $25,000 Dillingham Handicap for 3-year-olds on Saturday night at Los Alamitos.

Two starts ago, Chiselled in Glory was second in the Super Bowl Handicap. In each of his last two starts he carried 124 pounds, and totes high weight of 125 pounds in the Dillingham.

Entered at 124 pounds are Flysix, the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby fourth-place finisher, and Corona Barry, recent winner of a $100,000 claiming race at 220 yards by 1 1/4 lengths.

Mr Chivato to You back in Leo

Mr Chivato to You and Bullions N Garters, the top two finishers in the $50,000 Eastex Handicap, have a rematch in the $100,000 Leo Stakes on Sunday at Remington Park.

Mr Chivato to You was sent off at 8-1 in the Eastex after being beaten in two previous allowance races, but won by a head in 17.72 seconds for 350 yards. Last summer, he won three straight races, including the $35,000 Tailor Fit Stakes and the $25,000 Golden Ruler Stakes.

Bullions N Garters has finished on the board in each of her 28 starts. Owner-trainer Jim Gubas runs the 6-year-old Bullion N Garters primarily in minor stakes company - she has never run in an open Grade 1 stakes - and she has responded with $295,416 in earnings and 17 wins.

Bullions N Garters returned from a five-month layoff to finish the close second in the Eastex. A year ago at Remington Park, Bullion N Garters won the Decketta Handicap off a winter layoff and then took the Garrett's Miss Pawhuska by a length

Connor Can fits well at this level. He finished third in the Grade 1 Refrigerator and the Sam Houston Classic last year.

Also on Sunday, El Diablo Negro carries high weight of 126 pounds over 870 yards in the $35,000 Big Badger Bar Stakes. He ships to Remington after winning the Marathon Handicap at Louisiana Downs on Feb. 24. He was checked on the turn, but still rallied to win by more than three lengths.

Veterans head Distance Challenge

The 7-year-old Curlys Fortune and the 6-year-old On Star Cowboy each come off a trial win and meet in the Grade 2, $69,600 Red Cell New Mexico Distance Challenge at 870 yards on Sunday at Sunland Park.

Curlys Fortune raced to his third straight victory when he pulled away to win his trial by 1 1/4 lengths in 45.408 seconds, the fastest time from three trials. Last summer, he won the Grade 3 Fine Loom Handicap at Ruidoso Downs.

On Star Cowboy made his first start against open company after 23 starts against New Mexico-breds when he won his trial by two lengths for his fourth straight win. Before the trial win he defeated New Mexico-breds in the $168,000 New Mexico Cup 870 Championship and the Challenger Six Handicap.
