Rainbow View appears odds-on in May Hill

Email

Rainbow View, current favorite for next year's 1000 Guineas, will step up to Group 2 company at Doncaster on Thursday when she faces seven rivals in the $140,000 May Hill Stakes.

By Dynaformer out of a Del Mar Oaks winner, No Matter What, Rainbow View has won both of her starts by six lengths, the most recent on Aug. 9 in Newmarket's Group 3 Sweet Solera Stakes over the May Hill distance of seven furlongs.

A Kentucky-bred from George Strawbridge's Augustin Stable and trained by John Gosden, Rainbow View is as low as 5-1 at this early stage for next May's classic 1000 Guineas. On Thursday she will be the odds-on choice with Jimmy Fortune on board.

Among her opponents will be Aaroness, fourth to Again in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh; Snoqualmie Girl, coming off a win in a one-mile listed race at Newmarket; and Rose Diamond and Lahaleeb, who were second and fourth last time in the seven-furlong, Group 3 Prestige Stakes at Goodwood.
