Rainbow 6 jackpot survives close call

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – The giant Rainbow 6 jackpot survived a close call Thursday, with four horses alive for the entire jackpot of nearly $3.8 million going into the finale, including With a Kiss, who finished second in the maiden-claiming event on turf.

The last-race winner, Sweet Madea, was not covered among the nine tickets still alive going into the nightcap despite being a shorter price than With a Kiss and being ridden by the meet’s leading jockey, Javier Castellano.

There will be a mandatory payout of the entire Rainbow 6 jackpot on March 26 if it’s not hit by then.

The horse who created the possibility for the huge jackpot payoff was Kid’s Kid, who won the seventh race at odds of 70-1 for trainer Amy Tarrant. Jockey Matthew Rispoli was aboard the longshot winner, who slipped through along the rail down the stretch. Rispoli recently turned his book over to agent Oscar Sanchez.
