Rainbow 6 hit for $1,079,444

Email

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – The Rainbow 6 was solved Thursday at Gulfstream Park, the one correct ticket worth $1,079,444.

The Rainbow 6 had gone unhit since Feb. 12. The winning combination included two favorites, two second choices, and the longshots Silver Lucky Q (19-1) and Renombre (25-1). According to the mutual department, the winning ticket was purchased through the Portland, Ore., Hub for $336.

In the finale, Forest Funds, bet down to 2-1 favoritism, outgamed Shiloh for the victory under jockey Luis Saez, who was named to replace seven-pound apprentice Eric Rodriguez with two races remaining in the sequence. Rodriguez fell off his mount Bwana Slew shortly after the start of the eighth race but did return to ride the ninth.

A victory by Shiloh also would have resulted in a single winning Rainbow 6 ticket.

all were very hittable but leg 5. For the average Joe the trick is to play on weekdays and sundays. And you need at the minimun 1 or 2 ALL legs. That's hit and miss. Most times I do the all leg the winner is chalk. if anyone has any suggestions for the average bettor I'm all ears. except do not suggest not playing it

I've got no suggestions Boyd. Just wanted to say I wish you the best of luck.

The guy that hit it is probably the same guy that had it last year, the day before closing day. His ticket then was around $7,500. Big fish eat the small fish once again

"That guy who hit it last year" (Borislow) is now dead. how does your theory hold up to that?

I had missed that news, sad, that guy was on top of the world, looks like he left a nice legacy.

His ticket was not $7500.00, it was more like 1.1 million to win win the 15 million Pic 6

Well congrats to the winner. But, I do say, and will say, these gimmick pools that are designed to not be hit, with carryovers to eventually pay one or two winners a large amount, are, in fact, bad for horse racing. They just are. The ROI for the majority of the players are bad. It takes money away from the poor suckers who bet into these pools and deletes their bankrolls, which could be bet on more races individually. Bottom line, these trick bets are bad for the sport. Yes, I know, I'm in a small majority with this opinion. But if you really think about it. It's better to spread the money back to the players as a whole, instead on just one or two people. I know...just my opinion. Good luck all.

Right again Frank, this isn't a hittable but unless you spray the board eliminating all the people who bet 2-10 dollars a race. Nonetheless it a nervy bet and reaping awards

I'm one of the poor suckers that dreams of the big score. It's a lot more fun than trying to show a profit betting win place or show.

I do understand Allan. Please not I'm talking about this type of pick 6 specifically. The pick 5 and pick 4 are good bets in my opinion. Especially when the takeout is lower. And please don't think, I think my opinion is always right....it's just one opinion. On that note, I would tell anyone to never bet place or show anyway as that is the path to the poor house. Win bets of course are awesome. Especially when you win. Have fun.
