Radio Relay to Elegance Unlimited Sport Horses in Michigan

Radio Relay, a winner in each of his six campaigns, will begin his stallion career at Elegance Unlimited Sport Horses in Hartford, Mich., for an advertised fee of $500.

The 9-year-old son of Kafwain won 18 of 55 starts running in the Mid-Atlantic, Florida, and Canada, for earnings of $288,012. He won at distances from six furlongs to 1 1/16 miles, on dirt and synthetic surfaces.

Radio Relay was last owned and trained by Luis Calderon. He was a $100,000 purchase by Bill Farish at the 2006 Keeneland September yearling sale.

“Radio Relay offers breeders the opportunity to breed to a proven bloodline that produces diverse runners on all levels,” said bloodstock agent Crystal Conway, who brokered the deal. “Mares I best see suited for a cross with his pedigree would be from the Hail to Reason line thorough his sons Halo, Devil's Bag, and Devil His Due. This would also be the same pedigree cross as the Grade 1-winning Kafwain daughter Daisy Devine.”

Bred in Ontario by Ormonde Farm, Radio Relay is out of the unraced Seattle Slew mare Hello Slewman, whose three winners from as many foals to race includes stakes winner See Ya Later Slew. He is from the family of Grade 1 winner Countus In and Grade 3 winner Tanda.

“He will be a great addition to the Michigan breeding program,” Conway said. “His connections and I could not be more pleased to give him this opportunity with his new owner, Katrine Garfield.”
