Quote Me Later can hold on in Razorback

Quote Me Later, who has speed and the rail, will have to hold off Humble Bob late to win the colts and geldings division of the $25,000 Razorback Futurity at Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, La., on Sunday.

The six-furlong race is one of two stakes on the program restricted to 2-year-olds bred in Arkansas.

In the $25,000 fillies division of the Razorback Futurity, also over six furlongs, the Cole Norman-trained Impetuous Molly takes on two-time winner Honey Rascal, as well as Wild Liz, a first-time starter who has been working sharply for trainer Howard Rice.

Quote Me Later set all the pace in his last start before drawing clear by more than seven lengths in the stretch in an open company maiden race at Louisiana Downs on Oct. 5. He figures to be prominent again, but could face a late challenge from Humble Bob, who cuts back to one turn and adds blinkers for the Razorback.

Don Simington will ride Quote Me Later for trainer Joey Ruhsam, while Louisiana Downs's leading jockey, Gerard Melancon, has the call on Humble Bob for owner-trainer James Danaher.

Melancon also rides one of the leading contenders in the fillies division, Impetuous Molly. In her last start, the filly made the lead and liked it, driving to a two-length win over open company maidens Oct. 4.

The chief threat to Impetuous Molly could be Honey Rascal, who put together two impressive wins in August for trainer Danny Pish, and Wild Liz, who has shown good speed in her morning workouts. Kirk LeBlanc will ride Honey Rascal, while Jamie Theriot has the call on Wild Liz.
