Quiz the Maid vulnerable

Email

PORTLAND, Ore. - Stakes winner Quiz the Maid is always tough at Portland Meadows, but she might not be the one to beat in Sunday's running of the Oregon HBPA Invitational Handicap.

Quiz the Maid has scored all eight of her victories and four seconds at Portland Meadows in 13 career starts. She's also 4 for 5 at Sunday's six-furlong distance.

What's not to like?

She is the likely favorite, coming off a win in the Sweetheart Handicap here on Feb. 12, but there are several quicker runners in the field who could be tough to catch.

Swing the Belle, like Quiz the Maid, has recorded all eight of her victories here. She also has 3 seconds and 2 thirds in 13 starts.

Swing the Belle has more speed than Quiz the Maid and has finished no worse than second in her last eight starts, but she's also been running against claimers and gets tested for quality here. She did win an allowance race and finished second in an overnight handicap before winning an $8,000 claimer by seven lengths in her last start.

Comebacking Dear Deputy, making her first start in more than 10 months should be the one to catch, but her last race was poor, and she had to go to the sidelines so there is a question as to how she'll run.

Also to be considered is Chancy Chancy, who has defeated Quiz the Maid in 2 of their past 3 meetings and does have more early foot than her.
