Queen's Logic wins 1000 Guineas prep

Queen's Logic is being quoted at odds as low as 13-8 (1.625-1) for the 1000 Guineas after her convincing win in the Group 3 Fred Darling Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.

The Mick Channon-trained daughter of Grand Lodge maintained her undefeated record with a 1-3/4-length victory over Roundtree. Sent off as the prohibitive 1-3 favorite with regular rider Stephen Drowne aboard, Queen's Logic covered the seven furlongs in 1:24.74 on good to firm ground.

The Channon-trained Aramram paid Kentucky Derby-bound Castle Gandolfo a compliment with one-length victory in the listed one-mile Thirsk Classic Trial. Aramram had previously finished 2-1/2 lengths second to Castle Gandolfo in the Fosters-International Trial.

* Also at Newbury, the 5-1 Redback looked sharp in defeating Guys And Dolls by 2-1/2 lengths in the Group 3 Greenham Stakes, getting the seven furlongs in 1:23.84. However, trainer Richard Hannon said that the victorious son of Mark Of Esteem, the winner of the Group 3 Solario Stakes at two, would skip the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 4 in favor of the Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas) at Longchamp on May 12.
