Queen Greeley gets the distance

It's now safe to say that Queen Greeley can handle two turns. In her first start at the trip Sunday, she won the $50,000 Island Fashion at Sunland Park by 4 1 1/4 lengths. The one-mile race for 3-year-old fillies was the local prep for the $200,000 Sunland Park Oaks on March 28.

Queen Greeley ($4.80) stalked the pace and went on to win in 1:38.20 on a fast track. It was the second straight Sunland stakes win for the filly, who in January won the $50,000 El Paso Times at 6 1/2 furlongs. Isaias Enriquez was aboard Sunday for trainer Todd Fincher. Queen Greeley races for Barbara and Chris Coleman.

Pyrite on My Mind finished second in the Island Fashion, 4 1/4 lengths clear of third-place finisher Facil Cantana.
