Q Fortunate Sun off big victory

MUSKEGON, Mich. - Q Fortunate Sun, fresh off his 4 3/4-length victory in the Michigan Sire Stakes on Oct. 14, will head a field of eight statebred 2-year-old colts and geldings in the $48,000-added Michigan Futurity at Great Lakes Downs on Wednesday. A seven-furlong race, the Michigan Futurity will be run for the 50th time and goes as the first race on the closing day card. First post is 4:30 p.m. Eastern.

By Island Storm, Q Fortunate Sun is a candidate for divisional honors this year, with 2 wins in 7 starts. Before the Sire Stakes, Q Fortunate Sun was fourth in the Patrick Wood Stakes.

Owned by Marion Gorham and trained by Robert Gorham, Q Fortunate Sun will be ridden by Tommy Molina in the Sire Stakes.

Furka Pass, second in the Patrick Wood, is one of three entered by leading trainer Gerald Bennett. Furka Pass is 1-2-2 in five starts. Freddie Mata will ride for owner-breeders Gene and Phyllis Gilmore, who have also entered maiden Oberalp in the Futurity. Bennett also entered Armored Truck for owner Raymond Rech. Armored Truck will race as a separate interest.

Spirituality, trained by Ronnie Allen and owned by the Campbell Stable, was second in the Sire Stakes after being bumped at the quarter pole and losing his momentum. Jareth Loveberry will ride Spirituality.

Also entered are Born to Tango, Dan Little Man, and Lite Legacy.
