ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Pyramid Park lit up the tote board with a $108.40 payoff when he won his maiden in style on Sunday in the $253,200 at Woodbine.

With Slade Callaghan riding for trainer Mike Doyle, Pyramid Park stalked a rapid pace in the mile and a sixteenth grass race for 2-year-olds. French Beret, Run Justin Run and Shadow Rush dueled through wind-aided fractions of :22.62 and :44.95 seconds.

French Beret prevailed in the front-end battle, before being overtaken inside the quarter pole by Pyramid Park, who drew clear in the final furlong to score by three lengths. River Heights rallied to edge French Beret for second, while favored Shillelagh Slew finished eighth in the 13-horse field of Canadian-breds.

"I was hoping to sit off the pace going into the race, but I had all kinds of horse at the beginning," Callaghan said. "He pretty much dragged me around there today."

Pyramid Park competed the distance in 1:41.43 seconds, earning $150,000 for owner Eaton Hall Farm.
