ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Arlington Classic originally was called the Classic Stakes and first was contested in 1921. Until 1994, it was run on dirt between one mile and 1 1/4 miles, and its roster of winners bursts with Hall of Fame horses.
