BELMONT PARK Weather: Clear Track: Fast Temp.: 73 ELMONT, N.Y. - All eyes were on EXAGGERATOR Tuesday morning at Belmont Park, with the Preakness winner turning in his final major prep for Saturday’s Belmont Stakes. He worked five furlongs in 1:00.92 over a very fast main track after the renovation break. Kent Desormeaux was aboard Exaggerator, who broke off from the pony midway down the backstretch before dropping down on the rail to begin his work at the five-eighths pole. Exaggerator relaxed early through splits of 12.99 and 25.17 for his opening quarter-mile. He began to pick up the pace approaching the stretch when he suddenly began to bear well out from the rail, fanning five to six paths coming off the turn. :: BELMONT STAKES: News updates, field, and videos Desormeaux was able to get Exaggerator to straighten away fairly quickly once settling into the stretch, and put him under a bit of urging nearing the finish line to complete the final quarter in 24.47, albeit with his ears pinned and tail fully extended straight back at the wire. The gallop-out was easily the most impressive part of the move, as Exaggerator seemed to re-break at that point, shading 12 for another eighth of a mile to gallop out six furlongs in 1:12.91, pulling up seven-eighths in 1:27.87.[bc_video_id:385529:] The work provoked mixed thoughts. While the gallop-out was extremely impressive, the fact he bore out at the top of the stretch and finished with his ears pinned and tail extended cannot be taken as positive signs. That was definitely not the case when he came to the wire to complete his final work a week before a very strong performance in the Kentucky Derby. And that may leave just enough doubt to encourage those looking to side against a horse expected to be a prohibitive favorite in the Belmont.       Other than that, it was pretty much business as usual here Tuesday morning, except for trainer Todd Pletcher opting to bring his Belmont duo of DESTIN and STRADIVARI to the main track for the first time. Both galloped a routine 1 3/4 miles. Destin, as usual, trained in blinkers and got a little warm during the session. Stradivari tossed his head several times while giving the impression he wanted to do a little more than his rider would allow.    LANI did what only Lani does. He spent 45 minutes making four circuits of the 1 1/2-mile oval, gearing up for his scheduled work on Wednesday by coming down the lane in 42 and change from the quarter pole out past the wire at the end of a now very familiar three-mile gallop. As always, Lani continues to look unfazed by his extensive training schedule. GOVERNOR MALIBU, as usual, was the first Belmont contender on the track to train at 6 a.m. The Peter Pan runner-up continues to make a great physical appearance while going through his regular routine of jogging a mile, reversing direction, then galloping 1 1/2 miles. The Dale Romans pair of CHERRY WINE and BRODY’S CAUSE both galloped 1 3/4 miles after the break, showing great energy as they passed by the wire the final time before pulling up on the clubhouse turn.
