BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore

Email

Last week’s Pix were in the half-a-loaf category. Our final 3-year-old Pick of the year, Ponte Vedra Sky, buried her field by nine lengths and paid a delicious $24. On the other hand, the juvenile Pick was bizarre: Two BreezeFigs fillies, La Vitesse and Mistressofthenight, completed the exacta and trifecta respectively, but the one we liked (Jilly) was green as grass and was disqualified, and the other one we liked (Aura Rose) pulled up in the stretch.  Meanwhile, 10 BreezeFigs juveniles broke their maidens during the week and four won stakes races. The maiden wins came at Del Mar (where three others won stakes), Gulfstream (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Indiana (exacta), Kentucky Downs (plus a stakes win), Parx (a clean sweep of all the gimmicks) and Saratoga (four). Saturday's 2-year-old card is loaded but sorely lacking in first-time starters that we like (that’s the purpose of this column). But we found one buried in the pile, and it may be of interest, see below. Good luck!
