Last week’s Pick was not a bad shot—if the winner of the race had stayed in the barn. Nevertheless, our choices Into the Stars and Boranda did finish second and fourth, respectively, to complete a couple of gimmicks; plus, our suspicion that it could have been a key race may be correct considering the performance of the winner, which was spectacular. In fact, the performances of BreezeFigs maidens last week was also in that category since 17 of them won across the country, to say nothing of four other previous winners which won stakes—three of whom were making their second starts and were on the cards. The maiden winners came at Aqueduct (three, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Churchill (three), Del Mar (two), Fair Grounds (BreezeFigs exacta), Los Alamitos, Parx, Remington, Tampa Bay (BreezeFigs trifecta), and Turfway (BreezeFigs trifecta). Saturday's card is short on numbers but long on opportunities, one of which we like, see below. Good luck! If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf. Here’s Saturday’s Pick: Aqueduct, 4th Race, Maiden Special Weight (New York-Breds), 6 Furlongs (Turf) A maiden turf race for New York-Breds in December? Well, the weather looks like it will be more like October, so this one should stay on the weeds. Five BreezeFigs maidens are in here, four first-timers, one of which, Frederica, is on the AE list and if she gets in should be considered. However, one of the others wags her BreezeFigs tail at us more strongly and that would be Forty Winds. She posted a seven-over-Par Group 1 number at OBSAPR with a 24.83 foot stride length (SL), which was about a foot-and-a-half longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. However, she was not sold (RNA) for 195k (not in PP’s), so there was a lot of action on her and her 5-to-1 morning line looks a bit juicy. Another RNA is also one to watch—that would be Iridescent Morn, who scored a two-over-Par Group 1 tally at OBSMAR where her 23.05 foot SL was about average for fillies that day at a furlong; she was led out of the ring as a 50k RNA. As for Frederica, if she gets in, her even-Par Group 1 effort at OBSJUN featured a 23.92 foot SL, a bit more than an eighth of a foot longer than average. The other firster, Martini Momma tossed in a six-under-Par Group 4 effort at a quarter mile at OBSMAR where her 22.91 foot SL was almost a half-foot shorter than average for fillies that day. She’s Delightful has already started three times and has basically franked her five-under-Par form at OBSMAR where her 21.29 foot SL was almost two feet shorter than average at a furlong. This one has a logical key in Forty Winds who is also a solid straight bet, and you might want to toss Iridescent Morn and (if she gets in) Frederica into your gimmicks. Good luck!
