Heaven's Runway, ridden by Harry Vega, holds off Uptown Boy in the Fitz Dixon Memorial.

Heaven's Runway set the pace under Harry Vega and was all out to prevail in the $100,000 Fitz Dixon Memorial at Presque Isle Downs on Saturday evening.

Heaven's Runway was allowed to set slow fractions of 23.00 and 46.45 seconds for the first half-mile. Vega nursed the 2-year-old Heaven’s Runway ($34.80)  to the wire, winning by a half-length in 1.17.30..Uptown Boy was second, a length in front of Triple Cross. The even- money favorite, Muppet Man, had trouble at the start and finished last.
Unhedged was kept off the blazing early pace to the outside and won the $100,000 Presque Isle Debutante by a hard-fought neck. Jockey Mario Pino roused his mount at the top of the stretch and she drew off to a 2 1/2-length lead. Unhedged ($15.80) held off a late charge to win. Tiny Bear was gaining late but just missed, 1 3/4 lengths in front of Eddington's Note.

Unhedged ran the six furlongs in 1.11.73 in the field of eight 2-year-old fillies.
Noble Charlotte went from last to first to win the final stakes of the 2012 Presque Isle season under Pino.

Trained by Joe Cheeks, Noble Charlotte was running late to win the  mile-70-yard HBPA for older fillies and mares. Hooh Why finished a length behind the winner and 3 ¼ lengths in front of third-place Mystic City. The final time was 1.42.21.
