Citizen Advocate, under Luis Jurado, stalked the early pace before rallying in the stretch to win the $150,800 Presque Isle Debutante on Saturday evening at Presque Isle Downs. La Chiky set the early pace before giving way in the stretch in the six-furlong event. Trained by David Vivian, Citizen Advocate took over in the stretch and drew clear to 1 1/4-length victory, with Jurado having lost his whip inside the eighth pole. Las Malvegas was second, three-quarters of a length in front of Blue Forty in third. A 2-year-old daughter of Proud Citizen, Citizen Advocate returned $8 as the tepid favorite and ran the six furlongs in 1:11.46 over the Tapeta surface. Jockey Pablo Morales had the Big Wednesday nearly last at the first call before rallying down the stretch to win by 2 1/4 lengths. Morales found a hole and split horses coming into the stretch in a heady ride. Mr. Prankster was second, a length in front of I Spy Too in third. Big Wednesday, trained by Joe Martin, returned $47.20 and ran the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1.17.13. H.B.P.A.: Fugitive Angel by a length Fugitive Angel returned to her winning ways for Hall of Fame trainer Jonathan Sheppard in the $100,400 H.B.P.A. Stakes, the ninth race of the 10-race card. Jockey Mario Pino kept Fugitive Angel, a 4-year old Alphabet Soup filly, to the outside while never far off the pace in the one-mile and seventy-yard event. Pino asked for her best and she responded, drawing clear to win by a length in the field of ten older filly and mares. Grecian Maiden was second, a neck in front of Seeking Sheba in third. The running time was 1.42.32 and Fugitive Angel returned $13.60 to win, setting off an $809.30 $1 all-stakes pick three.
