Premier Dance victorious in Governor's

Premier Dance won his fourth straight stakes race Sunday, when he circled the field for a length and three-quarter win in the $56,700 Governor's at Zia Park in Hobbs, N.M.

Might Be Hooked finished second, a neck in front of third-place finisher Down Home Boy.

Premier Dance ($3) trailed the field early in the six furlong race for 2-year-olds, as Might Be Hooked and Down Home Boy dueled through fractions of 21.60 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.40 for the half-mile. Premier Dance overtook the leaders in the stretch, and went on to cover the distance over a fast track in 1:10.20.

Luis Quinonez rode the winner for trainer Cody Autrey.

Premier Dance had won stakes in his three starts leading up to the Governor's: the $75,000 Middleground Breeders' Cup at Lone Star Park, the $50,000 Minstrel at Louisiana Downs, and the $100,000 Lafayette at Evangeline Downs. Earlier this month, he was scratched from the MEC Mile at Remington Park after drawing post 12, then was pointed for the Governor's.

Premier Dance earned $34,020 for the win on Sunday, which was his fifth in seven starts. He has now earned $185,120. Premier Dance races for Charles Fletcher.

Autrey said Premier Dance could race next at Zia, in the $75,000 Eddy County at one-mile on Nov. 25.
