Prather injured again

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Apprentice rider Kris Prather has reinjured her shoulder and will be out a minumum of four months to undergo surgery and rehabilitation, her agent, Steve Elzey, said Wednesday.

Prather, 22, led all North American jockeys earlier this year when reeling off 110 victories but since has been hindered by injury. She suffered torn knee ligaments in a starting-gate accident in March, then injured her right shoulder in a training accident in June soon after returning to action. Prather returned to ride at the Ellis Park meet last month, but Elzey said that the shoulder "wasn't 100 percent" and that Prather apparently reinjured the joint during a recent race.

Prather last rode on Sunday at Turfway Park, where she had four winners on the Friday evening card. Turfway resumes racing on Thursday.
