Prairie Rose a battle of proven fillies

ALTOONA, Iowa - The Iowa-bred Sumthintotalkabout will face off against Soul Onarazorsedge and five other fillies and mares when she heads the $50,000 Prairie Rose Stakes on Saturday night at Prairie Meadows.

Sumthintotalkabout scored an easy three-length victory in a $52,000 allowance event for state-breds here April 27 in her only start of the year.

A 5-year-old daughter of Kyle's Our Man, she was a multiple stakes winner in 2001, including a victory against open company here last August in the Iowa State Fair Stakes.

Overall, Sumthintotalkabout has scored nine wins from 19 starts and has over $282,000 in earnings. Her record at Prairie Meadows is even more impressive, as she scored six wins in nine starts here.

Steve Hobby trains Sumthintotalkabout for owner Equal Justice Acres LLC. Regular rider Cindy Noll has the call in the six-furlong Prairie Rose.

Sumthintotalkabout will start as the 122-pound highweight under the allowance conditions of the race.

Soul Onarazorsedge enters Saturday's contest off an impressive front-running 2 1/4-length score in a $75,000 optional claiming event at Sportsman's Park on April 16. Trained by Eugene Brajczewski, she has won seven of 18 career starts and figures to set the pace under Zoe Cadman. who comes in from Chicago for the mount.

Soul Onarazorsedge, a 4-year-old daughter of Carson City, will carry 119 pounds.

Princess Jen rallied to score by a widening six lengths versus allowance company here May 1 and could be a late threat under Luis Quinonez.
