Prairie: Missing Miss wins Distaff

Email

ALTOONA, Iowa - Missing Miss took the lead entering the stretch and drew off from pacesetter So Much More late to score a 3 3/4-length victory in the $125,000 Iowa Distaff at Prairie Meadows on Friday night.

Missing Miss ($9.80) dueled inside of So Much More around the first turn before jockey Willie Martinez took her back into a stalking position entering the backstretch. Missing Miss challenged So Much More again early on the second turn and went on to an easy win while covering the 1 1/16 miles in 1:42.26. So Much More held second, three lengths clear of 6-5 favorite See How She Runs, who stalked the pace to the second turn but weakened through the stretch.

Missing Miss, a 4-year-old daughter of Unaccounted For who is blind in her right eye, scored her fifth win from 15 career starts and her first stakes victory. Jim Baker trains Missing Miss, who has now earned in excess of $225,000 for owner Cynthia Knight.
