Email

ALTOONA, Iowa – The Ray Tracy-trained duo of Wolf Pack Jack and Rushin' Rubietta dominated their Iowa-bred foes Saturday evening in the $68,650 Gray's Lake Stakes, a six-furlong race that attracted seven 3-year-old geldings.

Wolf Pack Jack ($7.60), despite breaking outwardly, quickly established a clear lead under jockey David Mello and never relinquished it. On the turn, Rushin' Rubietta emerged as his chief threat and gamely chased his stablemate through the stretch, only to fall a neck short. The pair bounded 3 1/2 lengths clear of the maiden Patty's Key, who had rallied into third.

Collecting $41,190 for Tracy's own Black Oak Farm, Wolf Pack Jack, a Hat Trick gelding, won against stakes competition for the first time while covering six furlongs in 1:10.33.

• Jumped the Harbor, a Robert F. Barnett-owned homebred conditioned by Larry Dunbar, forged clear from five Iowa-bred sophomore fillies leaving the turn and went on to a 3 1/4-length win in the $68,366 Bob Bryant Stakes on Saturday night.

Despite drifting out through the stretch under jockey Glenn Corbett's right-handed drive, Jumped the Harbor ($9.60) maintained her advantage while getting six furlongs in 1:11.04. The 7-10 favorite, Cat Five' O, staged a five-wide rally from sixth to garner the place spot.

Tallying $41,020 for her connections, Jumped the Harbor, a Jump Start filly, won for the third time in four lifetime starts while securing her first stakes victory.
