Shadowbdancing wins Saturday’s $100,000 Prairie Meadows Handicap by seven lengths.

ALTOONA, Iowa – While registering his sixth lifetime stakes victory at Prairie Meadows, Shadowbdancing eclipsed the $1 million mark in career earnings when taking Saturday’s $100,000 Prairie Meadows Handicap by seven lengths.

Wresting command from Hope for Today on the first turn of the 1 1/4-mile test, the free-running Shadowbdancing, guided by jockey Quincy Hamilton, went unchallenged for the handicap’s remaining mile and covered the distance in 2:03.41. Hope for Today held second by 1 1/2 lengths over It Happened Again, whose rally from last in the field of five petered out at the furlong pole.

Sent off as the tepid favorite, Shadowbdancing ($5.80), a 7-year-old Montbrook horse trained in Chicago by Terrel Gore, rebounded nicely from a fourth-place finish behind Fort Larned in the Grade 3 Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Handicap on June 30.

Earning $60,000 for RNB Racing LLC, Shadowbdancing became the second horse, along with Wayzata Bay, to post a career sweep of the track’s three big events for older horses: the Jim Rasmussen Memorial Stakes, the Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Handicap, and the Prairie Meadows Handicap.
