Prairie Meadows: Lady Blue Sky makes it eight straight

Lady Blue Sky just keeps rolling along. She made it eight in a row last Friday night at Prairie Meadows with an easy three-length win in a six-furlong starter allowance race in a sharp 1:10.44.

"I think we'll just keep doing what we're doing," said owner-trainer Don Roberson after the race. "I think we'll just keep doing what we're doing, and see what happens."

Lady Blue Sky's next start could be at Indiana Downs on July 2, in the $45,000 Florence Henderson Stakes for Indiana-bred fillies and mares at one mile on the turf.

"The way she's going right now there's no reason to think she won't handle the turf," said Roberson.

* Prairie Meadows is gearing up for its Festival of Racing, beginning on June 29 with the $250,000 Iowa Derby, the Grade 3, $200,000 Iowa Oaks, and the $100,000 Saylorville. Trainer Pete Anderson has announced he will bring his Ohio Derby winner Delightful Kiss to the Altoona oval for the Iowa Derby. The field for the Iowa Derby is shaping up to be a strong one, with horses from California, Texas, and Illinois expected.

* Trainer Tim Gleason is improving at Iowa Methodist Hospital, and hopes to be released very soon. Gleason suffered a broken pelvis when his pony reared up and fell on top of him on June 9. It appears surgery will not be needed, and Gleason has begun to get around with the help of a walker.
