Prairie Meadows: Ginger Added remains perfect by taking Iowa Stallion Stakes
Email
ALTOONA, Iowa - The undefeated Iowa-bred 3-yea- old filly Ginger Added handled her first try around two turns with aplomb when she cruised to a 2 3/4-length victory in Saturday evening's $106,276 Iowa Stallion Stakes at Prairie Meadows.
Winning over a distance of a mile and 70 yards in a time of 1:45.73, Ginger Added ($3.20) ran her lifetime record to 5 for 5, all at Prairie Meadows, with earnings of $174,095.
Owned by River Ridge Ranch and Prairie Valley Farm, Dick Clark-trained Ginger Added was handled expertly by regular rider Glenn Corbett. After breaking on top in the field of seven, which included six fillies, Ginger Added was taken in hand for the opening six furlongs. When asked to pick up the tempo on the far turn, she readily brushed aside eventual third-place finisher Launch Light Lady and forged too far in front to be caught by second-place finisher Lucky Daz.
Ginger Added, a daughter of the Iowa-based stallion Added Edge, earned $64,984 for her connections.
Best Bets
Daylon Miracle is perfect in four career starts. She even won in her career debut despite getting impeded and making a break. The 3-year-old filly has good speed off the gate and should be able to take charge in the City of London Fillies and Mares final. Seeing as she will be 3-5 or so, let’s key her in the exacta over #1 Cynthia Loo and #4 Amber Kadabra.
