Prairie Meadows: Entry big favorite

The entry of The K B Kid and Timetobook looms a short-priced favorite against seven 2-year-old rivals in the $40,000 Prairie Meadows Freshman at six furlongs.

Both halves of the Todd Hoffrogge-trained entry are very capable of winning the Freshman. The K B Kid has the best credentials in the field, having won all four of his starts, including three straight stakes wins. In his most recent start, The K B Kid scored a 3 3/4-length victory in the $55,000 Northern Lights Futurity against Minnesota-breds at Canterbury on Aug. 21.

Timetobook is the more likely of the two to start. Even if The K B Kid does not go, Timetobook will likely go favored based on his rallying win under Joel Campbell here nine days ago in the $65,000 Iowa Cradle at Monday's six-furlong distance. Campbell has the call on both horses.

Overall, Timetobook has won 2 of his 3 career starts good for $56,220 in earnings for owner Astar Thoroughbreds LLC.

Chicago invader Magnus One could be the upsetter in the Freshman for trainer Frank Springer. A gelded son of Is It True, Magnus One is 1-4-0 from 5 starts and figures to be close to the pace throughout under Corbett.
