Prairie Meadows: Crimson King Cat the standout

Email

Crimson King Cat will be a short-priced favorite in the $55,000 Gray's Lake for 3-year-old Iowa-bred colts and geldings at six furlongs at Prairie Meadows. Crimson King Cat comes into the Gray's Lake after an easy Iowa-bred allowance win on May 8 in 1:10.25 for the six furlongs. Before that win, he ran second in the $50,000 Golden Circle on April 21 behind Biglie Smallworld. Crimson King Cat is 3 for 5 lifetime and has never been worse than second. Perry Compton will be aboard for trainer Kelly Von Hemel.

"He keeps growing and maturing," said Von Hemel. "He's really turned into a nice horse who is getting better with each race, and I look for a big effort in the Gray's Lake."

Ghazi Up appears to be the best of the rest. He scored a nice Iowa-bred allowance win, also on May 8 at six furlongs. He will be making his second start in 2007 and will be ridden by Cesar Torres for trainer Gary Paulson.

Fappiano's Glitter and Tomcat Row each won a maiden race in his last out. Little Chief and Red Hot N Gold round out the six-horse field.
