Prairie Meadows bars veterinarian

ALTOONA, Iowa - Robert Todd Roseberry, a veterinarian, had his Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission license revoked by the Prairie Meadows board of stewards following a hearing Saturday morning.

The stewards ruled that Roseberry was in violation of numerous rules, including hiring unlicensed employees; failing to submit daily reports; falsifying, omitting, and turning in inaccurate information on his official reports of treatments to the state veterinarian's office; and administering prohibited raceday medication.

Roseberry was granted a probationary license April 20 with the stewards citing "a history of various and serious rule violations at different racetracks from 1989 through 1994," as well as Roseberry's failure to disclose a 60-day suspension in Nebraska in 1993 on his 2001 license application.

Roseberry's attorney, Maggi Moss, filed an appeal with an administrative law judge on Monday and the racing and gaming commission was scheduled to rule on whether to grant Roseberry a stay pending his appeal later this week.

In addition to revoking Roseberry's license, the stewards made a recommendation to the commission that he never be licensed in the state of Iowa again.
