Prairie: G G's Dolly one to catch

G G's Dolly heads a field of nine fillies and mares entered in the $50,000 Prairie Rose Stakes at Prairie Meadows.

The front-running G G's Dolly enters the Prairie Rose in top form, having won both of her starts this year. Both of those races came at Oaklawn Park in allowance company and were at the same six-furlong distance as the Prairie Rose.

G G's Dolly, a 4-year-old daughter of Comic Strip, seeks her first stakes win in the Prairie Rose. She has never missed the exacta in nine tries on the dirt and sports a career record of 5-4-0 from 10 starts for trainer Kelly Von Hemel. Perry Compton has a return call on G G's Dolly, who figures to set the pace.

Late-running Caviar Emptor, trained by Randy Oberlander, may be the main danger. Caviar Emptor ran third, beaten four lengths, in the $100,000 Bayakoa going 1 1/16 miles at Oaklawn on April 1. Shortening up to six furlongs, Caviar Emptor, a winner of 10 of her 36 starts, figures to make a late run under jockey Ken Shino.

Johns Place, who finished second in the $100,000 Saylorville at Prairie Meadows last summer, is also a contender. Johns Place has won 5 of her 9 starts. She is trained by Rebecca Maker and will have jockey Tim Doocy in the irons.
