Post 5 for Curlin in return to dirt

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Curlin drew post 5 and was installed as the 3-5 morning-line favorite for Saturday’s Grade 1, $500,000 Woodward Stakes at Saratoga.

The Woodward marks Curlin’s first start since he finished second to Red Rocks in the Grade 1 Man o’ War on the turf at Belmont Park on July 12. It will also be Curlin’s first start at Saratoga after spending last summer and this summer training here.

Curlin’s sternest challenge figures to come from Divine Park, who is making his first start since winning the Metropolitan Handicap at Belmont on Memorial Day. Divine Park drew post 4 and was made the 3-1 second choice on the morning line.

Wanderin Boy, who has finished second to the likes of Invasor, Bernardini, and Lawyer Ron in Grade 1 races, drew post 8 and was made the 8-1 third choice.
