Pompell wins seven at Fairmount

Highlighted by Tic N Tin's 5 3/4-length win in the featured $25,000 Shecky Greene Handicap, jockey Tommy Pompell won seven races on Fairmount Park's 10-race card Friday night.

Pompell won the first three races on the program. He rode B. J.'s Miss Belle ($12.40) to victory in the first, won the second on Basinbob ($3.60), and the third on Binabee ($5). Pompell's longest-priced winner of the night was in the fifth when he guided Three C's to a $16.20 win.

Tic N Tin drew off in the stretch of the Shecky Greene, the seventh race, with Pompell offering little encouragement. In the eighth Mr. Mag ($9.60) made it a six-bagger, and in the 10th Pompell was all out to get Wee Robin ($11) up for a nose victory.

"I had real confidence in Tic N Tin and I knew I was on several other live ones, but you just don't expect this to happen. It was a real thrill," Pompell said. Pompell currently holds a 98-64 advantage over Mike James in the Fairmount jockey standings.
