Poker Brad tops Mt. Rainier

Poker Brad wins the Mt. Rainier Breeders' Cup Handicap by two lengths over Mr. Makah (#9) at Emerald Downs on Sunday.

AUBURN, Wash. - Poker Brad used a devastating quarter mile kick to win a second straight renewal of the $77,500 at Emerald Downs on Sunday, completing the 1 1/8 miles in 1:46.60 to defeat Mr. Makah by two lengths. Demon Warlock finished another 1 1/4 lengths back in third, while favored Gratitude Attack faded to seventh in the field of nine after dueling through six furlongs in 1:09.

Poker Brad, a 6-year-old son of Go for Gin who races for Quadrun Farm LLC, is trained by Tim McCanna and was ridden on Sunday by Ricky Frazier. Poker Brad earned a winner's prize of $55,000, boosting his career earnings to $374,165 from eight wins in 34 starts. He paid $6.80 to win as the second choice in the wagering.
