Manchego, making her 2018 debut, ran her career record to 13 wins from 13 starts by virtue of a 1:53 performance in her $56,480 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes division for 3-year-old trotting fillies on Monday night at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono. The defending Dan Patch Award winner for the group, Manchego (Yannick Gingras) settled in third to the 27 3/5 opening quarter, then made her move to the lead around Live Laugh Love (David Miller).  Manchego would hit the half in 56 3/5 and the three-quarters in 1:24 4/5, and she was under complete wraps through the lane on her way to a 1 1/2 length decision. Live Laugh Love held second, with Courtney Hanover (Jim Morrill Jr.) back in the third spot. A filly by Muscle Hill, Manchego is trained by Jimmy Takter and owned by Black Horse Racing, John Fielding, and Herb Liverman.  She has now earned $902,188 to go with her unblemished record.  She was sent off at 1-9 after winning her lone qualifier at the Meadowlands in 1:53 4/5 on May 12 and paid $2.10 across the board. Back in the evening's first $56,080 sire stakes test, Megadolce (D. Miller) grabbed command passing the 27 4/5 opening quarter and continued to show the way through middle-half stations of 57 3/5 and 1:25 3/5, but first-over challenger and public choice Nixie Volo (Corey Callahan) wore her down in the lane and went on to a 1 3/4 length score in 1:54 3/5.  Winbak Noelle (Andrew McCarthy) split foes and gained for second, with Bay View (Tim Tetrick) third from the pocket. Nixie Volo is a Yankee Glide filly trained by John Butenschoen for the ownership group of Kentuckiana Racing Stable, VIP Internet Stable LLC., 83 Racing, and Eddie Gran.  This was her fourth career victory, and she has now put away $115,259.  She was dispatched at 1-5 and returned $2.60 to win. While the favorites delivered in the first two groupings, that was not the case in the $56,480 finale.  Vivacious Allie (Ake Svanstedt) made front in a 26 4/5 front quarter, then gave 3-5 favorite Lily Stride (Tetrick) the cold shoulder to the 56 second half.  Vivacious Allie remained in charge at the 1:25 1/5 three-quarters, with Basquiat (Gingras) making a three-wide move to get around the fading Lily Stride and Piranha Fury (D. Miller) tracking Basquiat's bid.  In the stretch Vivacious Allie clung to the lead, but Piranha Fury came charging on the far outside, and she would get up for the 1:54 2/5 win at odds of 15-1.  Vivacious Allie had to settle for runner-up honors, a length back of the winner, and Basquiat was third. Nifty Norman trains Piranha Fury, a daughter of Donato Hanover, for owners Mel Hartman, Little E LLC., and Diamond Creek Racing.  Piranha Fury is now a two-time winner in her life, and she has pocketed $87,752.  She paid $32.60 to win.
