Pocono: Horses to watch from May 3 - May 6

Email

Saturday Afternoon, May 3

PRINCE ASSAULT (NW1) Tipped from the back passing the third panel, rallied deep to the lane and closed steadily but at 68-1 it may have been too much to ask.

CHERRY TREE NICOLE (CLM7500) Hit her best stride too late to get to the winner but this beaten favorite should be battling in next few.

A LISTER (NW4000) Tucked early, pulled to the third panel and this time tucked the pocket, rallied gamely and just missed.

Saturday Evening, May 3

FITZS Z TAM (CLMHCP125/15000) Sucked in too much of the mountain air in last racing parked the mile uncovered. Better trip makes for better results.

AUTOMATIC SLIMS (NW22000) Had pace with nowhere to go in last and wandered inside the pylons. Better racing luck is all he needs.

BETTORS GLASS (NW25000) Had what it took to take home all the marbles in last but had a step too far to come. Would have been awesome at 30-1 but it can be rewarding in next even at less.

Sunday, May 4

DAVIDS ICE (NW4) Seems to have tons of trouble on a regular basis with last being no exception. He skipped some steps and took back to the rear, moved hard uncovered to the third panel and into the lane, dug in and proved gamest.

STRETCH CUNNINGHAME (NW1) What a debut. Ray Schnittker piece sat pocket and went by strongly to nail it and should make a bunch of bucks before he' s finished.

LITTLE BABY PEANUT (NW1FM) Was roughed up in latest racing parked the mile and pressed an impressive winner to mid-lane before tiring and should take a win or two in near future.

JOHNHANNIBALSMITH (CLMHCP75/10000) Had his A-Game last time out and can win another for his team.

FOOL OF IDEAS (NW4500) Put in a huge parked the mile dead-game winning effort in last and can hardly be ignored in next few.

Tuesday, May 6

MATCH PLAY (NW2) Came uncovered and won going away. Should be able to win at least one or two more in near future.

BERKSHIRE (NW4000) Put in an impressively game front end win being pressed hard throughout and such a gutty performance should be respected.

OPINION HANOVER (NW4000) Was parked and uncovered from here to there and gave the pacesetting winner all he could handle before giving way late. Will be tough to deny if he makes the top.

MERITED VICTORY (CLMHCP125/15000) Was parked to the lead and pressed all the way, dug in gamely but could not last. Should be a winner with any decent racing luck.
