Plenty of qualifiers on 'slow' weekend

It’s the calm between the storms in the racing world – the weekend between the Derby and Preakness – but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty going on, both on the track and in tournaments. DRF Tournaments has a full slate of contest action this week, centered around the World Championship of Handicapping, Monmouth’s Pick Your Prize event, and a last chance to qualify for next weekend’s Preakness contest at Santa Anita Park.

Saturday kicks off with a $95 round-one contest for the Preakness Day Grade 1 qualifier for the WCH. One in seven entries advance out of the round one, and one in 10 will go from the Grade 1 to win their $5,000 entries to the $1 million, no-takeout finals (players also have the option of buying into the Grade 1 directly for $580). There are round-one contests scheduled for each active day on DRFT through Black-Eyed Susan Day.

Saturday’s other feature is the Monmouth qualifier. Buy-in is $126 and one in 23 win $2,000 entries plus $500 in travel (20 entries required to go). Monmouth’s Pick Your Prize takes place on June 3 at the seaside oval. Its inaugural running last year proved very popular and this year’s version should follow suit.

On Sunday, the Santa Anita Preakness contest takes center stage with a last chance to qualify. Entries cost $225 and one in 26 win $4,500 entries plus $500 in travel. Note that 23 entries are required for this contest to go. If 23 entries aren’t received, money will be refunded. Santa Anita has emerged in recent years as the market leader when it comes to both live-bankroll contests and horseplayer hospitality in general. Get qualified and see what all the fuss is about.

There are also feeders, credit-builders, and match-ups every day on DRFT, offering players ways to buy in for a little, get great action, and fund their upcoming contest play. Go to tournaments.drf.com for more information.
