Plaer's Trump a horse for the course

Plaer's Trump, unbeaten in her three races in Columbus, puts that streak on the line when she heads a field of six in the Columbus Maturity/Matron, a new addition to the stakes schedule this year.

The $15,000 Columbus Maturity/Matron is a 6 1/2-furlong sprint for Nebraska-bred fillies and mares. A $5,000 supplement was put into the race by the web site www.Nebraskathoroughbredracing.com, which hopes to sponsor other races in the state in the future.

Plaer's Trump comes off her first win of the year in the $29,000 Falls Amiss Handicap at Horsemen's Park on July 18. She will be meeting most of the same rivals in this spot, including the second- and third-place finishers, and should be poised to continue her winning ways.

Six of her wins have come in stakes races and Player's Trump will be looking to surpass the $100,000 in career earnings.

Amy Do Da and Real Battleaxe are likely to provide a solid pace setup for Plaer's Trump. Real Battleaxe will be making her first attempt at the distance and has a pair of optional claiming wins at six furlongs this year for trainer David Anderson. Amy Do Da will be making a big jump from $5,000 company for trainer LaVerne Ballhagen but has run well over this track.

Dazzling Seville, runner-up to Plaer's Trump in the Falls Amiss, could also be a part of the speed in this race. After consistently showing speed, she has come from just off the pace in her last two races, and that versatility could be to her advantage.
