Carencro, La. - Placid Star, who suffered the only defeat of her seven race career at the hands of Shes Dixies Eskimo in the Fantasia Stakes at Louisiana Downs on May 23, turned the tables on that rival Saturday night, capturing the Frank A. "Buddy" Abadie Stakes. Shes Dixies Eskimo finished three parts of a length back followed by Madison's Music.

Trained by Sam David, Jr., who owns Placid Star ($2.80) in partnership with James McCurry, the winner rated kindly for Gerard Melancon behind Madison's Music and Shes Dixies Eskimo in the early stages of the one mile test for 3-year-old Louisiana-bred fillies before being called on for some run exiting the second turn. Challenging Shes Dixies Eskimo just inside the furlong grounds, the winner wore that foe down and stopped the timer in 1:39.68 over a sloppy strip. The daughter of Placid Fund picked up her fourth stakes win and has now bankrolled $241,000.
