French Jeanette and Awesome Charm, who have been battling each other in optional claiming sprints in Maryland and Delaware, meet again with more money on the line in the $50,000 Skipat Stakes, a six-furlong race at Pimlico.

French Jeanette, a 4-year-old filly trained by Jerry Robb, beat Awesome Charm in each of her last two starts, earning Beyer Speed Figures of 88 and 86. French Jeanette moves up to stakes company for the first time since finishing fourth in a statebred race at Penn National last June.

Awesome Charm got a little closer to French Charmer last time, finishing second by 1 1/2 lengths, than she did when they first met at Delaware Park in late April. Awesome Charm could be primed for a peak effort in the third start of her current form cycle.

The Skipat purse is only $3,000 higher than the $47,000 optional claiming purses Lavender Lass chased in New York in her last few starts. Her best performance of the year came when she finished a close second, earning a career-best 95 Beyer, in the Carson Hollow over Aqueduct's inner track in February.

Love You Madly had a three-race winning streak that began last June end when she was beaten by French Jeanette and Awesome Charm on May 14. A return to her previous race at Pimlico would make her dangerous.
