Pimlico: Maddy's Lion provides test

What's Up Lonely, winner of the Maryland Million Nursery three weeks ago, goes for his third consecutive victory in the $75,000 Rollicking Stakes, a six-furlong race for Maryland-bred 2-year-olds on Saturday at Pimlico.

In order to do that, however, What's Up Lonely will probably have to run faster than he ever has before.

That's because trainer John Pregman is bringing Maddy's Lion to Maryland.

In his second career start, Maddy's Lion scored a two-length victory against maidens at Belmont Park. His 78 Beyer Speed Figure is 5 points higher than What's Up Lonely earned in the Nursery.

* The co-featured $75,000 Heavenly Cause for Maryland-bred 2-year-old fillies features three horses who finished within four lengths of each other last time out in the Maryland Million Lassie.

Golden Malibu did the best of the returning trio, closing mildly to finish third in a field of 11. The closest she got to the leader, however, was 5 1/2 lengths at the wire. Beau's Trip and Lisaized were another four lengths behind after showing absolutely no early speed.

The filly who appears capable of getting loose on the lead against this group is Dream Package. She wired maiden claimers at Delaware Park by eight lengths.
